Podgorica, (MINA-BUSINESS) – According to the local Tourist Board of Zabljak, more than 150,000 overnight stays were recorded in the first eight months of the year, matching the total for the whole of last year.
Director of the Tourist Board Stojan Abazovic described this season as record-breaking - the best Durmitor has ever seen.
“Durmitor is growing in popularity every year, and the trend shows no sign of slowing. This year alone, visitors from 125 countries have come here. Even now, in September, with the favourable weather, we continue to welcome many tourists,” Abazovic told Mediabiro.
He added that nature is the main reason tourists visit Zabljak.
“Durmitor has been ranked among the ten best parks in Europe and the world. We have 18 lakes, 48 peaks above 2,000 meters, and canyons. Particularly worth highlighting is the Tara Canyon, the second deepest in the world, along with the Tara Bridge and the Nevidio Canyon,” Abazovic explained.
He considers Durmitor to be a true mecca for outdoor tourism, offering a wide range of activities.
“We have rafting, canyoning, paragliding, cycling, and three zip-lines on the Tara River. There is also the panoramic Durmitor Ring road, one of the most visited and most beautiful in the world. Durmitor has so much to offer to tourists,” said Abazovic.
Optimism in Zabljak remains high for the coming period as well.
“We expect the season to continue into October and November. At the same time, we are already preparing for the winter tourist season and hope that snow conditions will be better than last year,” Abazovic concluded.
