Podgorica, (MINA) – Micro-bit pocket computer, which has been introduced to the Montenegrin schools owing to the British Council, has taken off through micro-bit school clubs which are growing in number, as well as their projects, it was stated by the Education Ministry.
“One of them is micro-bit project of the Njegos elementary school from Cetinje under the name “Medicine timer”, created by Djordje Rajkovic, Stevan Milosevic and Petar Popovic, under the mentorship of Suzana Roganovic, a math teacher”, the press release stated.
Their project, as stated, won a prize in the national micro-bit competition.
The Ministry of Education signed recently with the British Counctil the agreement that envisages that every Montenegrin school will receive micro-bit computers in the next three years.
“The total number of micro-bit computers that will be distributed by the end of the project is 4,000. In addition to that, 700 teachers will be trained, most of them will be IT teachers, but also part of the language teachers, science teachers, and music teachers”, the Ministry stated.
British Council director to Montenegro Vanja Madzgalj said that it is the biggest investment of British government in this region, worth €10 million.
“All schools will be included. The essence of the project is to consistently integrate critical thinking skills in the curriculum, but also in the extra-curriculum activities”, said Madzgalj.
According to her, programing with micro-bit is very simple, and it simultaneously enables creativity in work.
