Podgorica, (MINA) – The EU member states finally have a clear position that the Western Balkans should be part of Europe, Macedonian Deputy Prime Minister Koco Anjusev has stated, adding that the Union is finally pursuing the right policy towards the region.
In an interview with Pobjeda, he said that the course pursued by Montenegro should be followed by all other countries of the region.
“Nobody should be left excluded if we wish the Western Balkans to be stable in the long run,” Andjusev stated.
According to him, the Balkans has always been a target for great powers.
“The Balkans is a territorial, political and economic interest of great powers. It always has been and it will continue to be in the future. However, I believe that we need to follow the interests of our citizens,” the Macedonian official noted.
He remarked that the EU accession is an irreversible process, arguing that 2025 could be the year when the Balkan countries will become part of the EU.
