Niksic, (MINA-BUSINESS) – According to Elektroprivreda (EPCG), the Thermal Power Plant (TPP) Pljevlja has generated and supplied nearly 45 terawatt-hours (TWh) of electricity to Montenegro’s power system over its 43 years of operation.
“As an essential component not only of our company but of the entire energy sector, TPP Pljevlja has generated and supplied nearly 45 TWh of electricity to Montenegro’s power system since its commissioning in 1982,” EPCG said on the occasion of the plant’s 43rd anniversary.
EPCG stated in a press release that over the last three and a half years, the focus has been on an environmental reconstruction, a strategic project aimed at extending the plant’s operational life while meeting strict European environmental directives.
The company believes that TPP Pljevlja’s continued operation is vital to their production portfolio, particularly during summer deficits when the average electricity price on the market far exceeds the domestic supply rate, demonstrating the plant’s importance as the country’s only thermal block.
