Scepanovic: Seized marijuana could have had a street value of EUR 10 million

Podgorica, (MINA) – Marijuana seized in the operation codenamed “Trnovo” would reach up to EUR 10 in street value, said Acting Chief of Police Administration Lazar Scepanovic.

At the press conference, he stated that a several-month-long operation codenamed “Trnovo” was carried out on Sunday, during which 13,100 marijuana seedlings were seized near Crmnica.

“This is the largest marijuana seizure, worth about EUR 4.5 million, which in further distribution on the streets would reach up to EUR 10 million”, Scepanovic said.

He added that marijuana was planted across eight plantations.

Scepanovic recalled that Z.M. and D.P were arrested, stating that organized crime is behind this criminal operation.

He explained that the Police Administration is working on the identification of all involved in cultivation, processing and later distribution.

Answering a journalist’s question, Scepanovic said that further smuggling was prevented and that the police had timely information that the activities, apart from national, also had a regional dimension.

When asked how many people were involved in this criminal operation, he said that the investigation is ongoing and no further information could be provided at this stage.
