Podgorica, (MINA) – Montenegro is expected to provisionally close two negotiation chapters in the EU accession process at the Intergovernmental Conference scheduled for June 15 in Luxembourg, said Minister of European Affairs Maida Gorcevic.
She said that Chapter 2 – Freedom of movement for workers and 28 – Consumer and health protection are expected to be provisionally closed.
Gorcevic stated in the press release that this is the result of the dedicated work of the Government and institutions and intensive communication with the EU member states, which allowed for provisionally closing two more chapters, which have been technically ready for some time.
“The pace of closing negotiation chapters is proceeding according to plan. All reform activities are progressing and I am confident that we can close the remaining 19 chapters by the end of the year. The fact that these will not be the last chapters closed before the summer break is also encouraging”, emphasized Gorcevic.
She added that the Government has completed a significant portion of work, but that for successfully concluding the accession process will require the synergy of all three government branches, expressed through a clear political commitment and determination to fulfill the remaining obligations.
