Podgorica, (MINA) - The latest European Commission’s latest non-paper on Chapter 24 – Justice, Freedom and Security confirms that Montenegro is making continuous progress in all key areas related to the rule of law, security and European integration.
This was stated in a joint press release by Interior Minister Danilo Saranovic and Police Director Lazar Scepanovic.
In the press release, released by the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MUP), it is emphasized that the EC’s positive assessment confirms that the country is achieving measurable results in the fight against organized crime, strengthening international police cooperation, migration management, border security and alignment with the EU legal acquis.
Saranovic assessed that the EC’s positive findings confirm that Montenegro has made an important institutional step forward and strengthened the stability of its security sector.
“It is particularly significant that the EC recognized the continuous strengthening of institutional capacities and the ability of the system to achieve concrete results”, said Saranovic.
Scepanovic assessed that the European Commission’s findings are confirmation of the professional work of police officers and the efficiency of operational activities carried out in cooperation with international partners.
“The EC has clearly recognized the results Montenegro is achieving in the fight against organized crime, drug trafficking and human trafficking, as well as progress in conducting financial investigations, freezing and confiscating assets acquired through criminal activity”, Scepanovic said.
