Podgorica, (MINA) – Ensuring the independence of cultural institutions is an obligation of every serious society, said Podgorica Mayor Sasa Mujovic, adding that the final decision on changing the name of the National Library “Radosav Ljumovic” must be aligned with the dominant public opinion.
In a statement to Pobjeda daily, Mujovic said that the Council of the “Radosav Ljumovic” National Library has the right to its views and decision, and that its members should not be condemned in advance of having bad intentions or acting against the state.
“Nevertheless, all decisions that make waves in the public, which may have significant implications, explicit or implicit, require broad dialogue, consultation and full involvement of all important stakeholders. Such decisions cannot be rushed”, said Mujovic.
According to him, both Marko Miljanov and Radosav Ljumovic represent important values of Montenegrin society.
He concluded that the final decision must be aligned with the prevailing public opinion.
