Radulovic: Association of Lawyers willing to host discussion on constitutional amendments

Podgorica, (MINA) – The Association of Lawyers of Montenegro is ready to, as an organizer or co-organizer, host a debate on the proposed constitutional amendments as part of the framework of the public consultations required by the Constitution, said president of that association, Branislav Radulovic.
He stated that the decision of the Constitutional Committee to invite the Minister of Justice to, with the consent of the European Commission, request an opinion from the experts of the Venice Commission (VK) on the draft constiutional amendments, represents a step forward in securing expert confirmations of the quality of the proposed amendments.
According to the press release by the Association of Lawyers, Radulovic said that the Venice Commission had been consulted on all important issues and helped a lot, both in the process of holding the state referendum in 2006, the adoption of the Constitution in 2007 and constitutional amendments in 2013, as well as numerous legislative activities and systemic reforms in the areas of the judiciary, public administration and the electoral system.
“The Association of Lawyers, for its part, expresses its readiness to host a session dedicated to the proposed constitutional amendments in the capacity of organizer or co-organizer within the framework of the public debate provided for by the Constitution”, said Radulovic.
