Montenegro and Turkey to establish a High-Level Cooperation Council

 

Podgorica, (MINA) – Montenegro and Turkey will establish a High-Level Cooperation Council, aimed at improving bilateral cooperation, it was agreed during a meeting between Prime Minister Milojko Spajic and President of Turkey Recep Tayyip Erdogan.

 

According to the press release by Spajic’s office, the meeting was held in Ankara on the sidelines of the NATO summit.

 

Spajic and Erdogan discussed further strengthening of political and economic relations between the two friendly countries, regional opportunities, Montenegro’s European integration, as well as cooperation in the field of defense.

 

Reflecting on the results of the NATO Summit, Spajic assessed that the meeting of the NATO leaders was highly successful, as well as that the decisions adopted further strengthen the unity of the Alliance and contribute to the long-term security, peace and stability of the Euro-Atlantic area.

 

According to the press release, Erdogan said that Turkey views Montenegro as a sincere friend and a reliable ally, stressing that the high level of Turkish investments confirms confidence in Montenegro and its development potential.

 

“He expressed readiness to further advance cooperation, both in the field of economy and in all other areas of mutual interest”, the press release said.

 

According to Spajic’s office, the meeting assessed that Montenegro and Turkey have exceptionally high-quality and substantial bilateral relations, based on mutual trust, alliance within NATO and strong economic connections.

 

“And that the establishment of the High-Level Cooperation Council, as well as the upcoming official visits, will represent a new step forward in their further strategic development of the relations between the two countries”, the press release concluded.
