Podgorica, (MINA) – Montenegro must change and become more successful, as it has a historic opportunity to join the EU, said president of the country, Jakov Milatovic, adding that there is no more time to lose.

According to a press release from his office, Milatovic said this during a meeting with Austrian Chancellor Christian Stocker in Cetinje.

The press release stated that Milatovic and Stocker confirmed commitment to further strengthening friendly relations between the two countries, based on historical continuity, mutual respect and frequent political dialogue.

Milatovic thanked Stocker for Austria’c willingness to provide assistance to Montenegro in dealing with the numerous wildfires.

He also thanked Austria for its support to Montenegro’s European path and its efforts to become the first next member of the EU.

According to the press release, Milatovic and Stocker also discussed the potential for new Austrian investments in Montenegro, including projects of wind power plants, hydroelectric power plants and modernization of the energy sector.

It is added that Milatovic and Stocker agreed that Montenegro and Austria will continue to strengthen their partnership at all levels, sharing a common vision of a stable, secure and united Europe.
