Podgorica, (MINA) – The Ministry of Ecology, Sustainable Development and Development of the North (MERS) successfully conducted the campaign “Ten Plastic Bottles or Cans for a Seedling” in Niksic on Friday, distributing around 300 seedlings, the MERS announced.

According to the press release from the Ministry, citizens collected more than 3,000 pieces of packaging waste.

The initiative was supported by director of the Niksic Municipal Company Nemanja Vukovic, director of the NGO Ozon Aleksandar Perovic, as well as representatives of the Municipality of Niksic together with local residents. The aim of the initiative is raising awareness of the importance of proper packaging waste management and environmental protection.

Minister of Ecology, Sustainable Development and Development of the North, Damjan Culafic pointed out that this initiative is part of the “Green Renewal” campaign, implemented throughout Montenegro with the aim of raising public awareness of importance of environmental protection and responsible waste management.

“Today we are in Niksic, last week we were in Berane, and next week we will be in Mojkovac. In this way, we continue to visit municipalities across Montenegro and, together with local communities, realize activities that contribute to environmental protection”, said Culafic
