Podgorica, (MINA-BUSINESS) – The Tenants' Association is launching the public civic initiative Right to a Home 2035, with the aim of opening, for the first time, a serious public debate on the future of housing in Montenegro and creating a long-term housing policy vision aligned with citizens' needs and European practices.
“For years, we have been warning about rising property prices, increasing rents, and the increasingly difficult position of tenants, young people, and families who are unable to secure adequate housing,” the Association said in a press release.
According to the press release, it is evident that housing is becoming one of Montenegro’s key social and development issues.
The Association added that the strong public interest in different housing programmes has shown that the problem is not individual but systemic.
Thousands of citizens are seeking a way to secure a stable home, clearly indicating that the time has come for a serious national discussion on housing.
“That is why we are launching the Right to a Home 2035 initiative, bringing together citizens, experts, representatives of institutions, local governments, civil society organizations, and all interested social stakeholders to work jointly on developing sustainable solutions for the next decade,” the press release reads.
