Destination management key to improving the quality and competitiveness of Montenegrin tourism

Podgorica, (MINA-BUSINESS) – According to the Director of the National Tourism Organization (NTO) Ana Tripkovic Markovic, destination management is one of the main prerequisites for the sustainable and long-term development of tourism.
The NTO hosted the event titled “Montenegro Destination Excellence – Development of Destination Management in Montenegro” in Podgorica, bringing together representatives of the tourism industry, local tourist board, public institutions and destination management experts.
“The event included a presentation on destination brand management and integrated destination management, as well as a panel discussion dedicated to improving destination management in line with Montenegro’s tourism development priorities and European standards,” the NTO said in a press release.
The event also featured the presentation of results from the Destination Management Development project, which the NTO is implementing as a pilot initiative in the municipalities of Kotor, Danilovgrad and Pljevlja.
On that occasion, the tourist bords of those municipalities received Montenegro Destination Excellence awards in recognition of their participation in and contribution to improving destination management.
