Podgorica, (MINA) – The Commission for Missing Persons of the Government of Montenegro has received confirmation of the identification of the remains of Hasan Klapuh, killed together with his wife and daughter 34 years ago on a bridge near Pluzine, the Ministry of Social Welfare, Family Care and Demography announced.
On July 6, 1992, members of the “Dragan Nikolic” unit of the Army of Republika Srpska killed the Klapuh family, Hasan, Ferida and Sena, on a bridge downstream from the Piva hydroelectric power plant dam.
The Ministry of Social Welfare, Family Care and Demography said that, although there were no acts of war on the territory of Montenegro, the perpetrators of the crime were not brought to justice or held accountable.
In a press release the Ministry pointed out that the remains of the three murdered members of the Klapuh family had been buried in undignified manner in an unmarked grave in Niksic.
Minister of Social Care, Family Care and Demography Damir Gutic said that confirming the identity of Hasan Klapuh’s remains marked another important step in fulfilling the obligation to the victims and their families.
“After more than three decades, Hasan, Ferida and Sena Klapuh will finally be buried with dignity, as every family deserves to lay their loved ones. No family should wait so long for the truth or for the right to lay their loved ones to rest with respect and dignity”, said Gutic.
