Harnessing the potential to strengthen economic cooperation

Podgorica, (MINA-BUSINESS) – According to Vice President of the Chamber of Commerce of Montenegro (PKCG) Pavle D. Radovanovic, Austrian companies have recognized Montenegro’s potential and contributed to the development and modernization of the Montenegrin economy through investments, knowledge transfer, and business cooperation.

Speaking at a business forum between Montenegro and the Austrian province of Styria, held today at the PKCG, Radovanovic expressed satisfaction at hosting a delegation from one of Austria’s most economically developed and technologically advanced federal states.

“Austria has long been one of Montenegro’s important partners, not only economically. Our relations are based on mutual trust, successful cooperation, and shared European values,” Radovanovic said.

The event, attended by Styria’s Deputy Governor Manuela Khom and Austrian Ambassador Christian Steiner, took place a day after the signing of a memorandum of cooperation between the governments and chambers of commerce of Montenegro and Styria.

The memorandum provides a platform for future joint projects, exchange of experience, stronger business ties, and the creation of new opportunities for investment, innovation, and sustainable development.

The PKCG stated in a press release that the business forum provided a valuable opportunity to present investment potential, connect company representatives, and discuss possibilities for establishing partnerships on concrete projects.

The focus was placed on sectors of major importance for the sustainable development of both Montenegro and Styria: forestry and wood processing, waste management, and wastewater treatment.

Khom said that Styria sees the Western Balkans as part of the wider European family and that economic cooperation is an important contribution to such a future.

“It is encouraging to see Montenegro progressing on its path toward the European Union, and we are here to support you every step of the way. Chambers of commerce are here for entrepreneurs, because you will build strong links between our economies. I hope we will cooperate even more closely in the future and work together toward a shared future,” Khom said.

Vice President of the Styrian Chamber of Commerce, Herbert Riter, noted that informal discussions and meetings such as this one provide the foundation for building trust, which is a key prerequisite for long-term cooperation.

“Through events like this, we become better acquainted with the cultures of Montenegro and Styria, which share many common points. We see significant potential for the future and for further strengthening our relations. Representatives of different sectors are gathered here today, and the topics we are discussing are important for everyday life and for developing stable economic and business ties,” Riter said.

The forum concluded with B2B meetings between business representatives from Montenegro and Styria, aimed at establishing new business contacts and translating discussions into concrete cooperation.
