Podgorica, (MINA) – The Constitutional Court has adopted a plan for resolving constitutional appeals, with the goal of issuing decisions by the end of December in all cases formed based on appeals filed last year.
The Constitutional Court announced that there are currently 789 unresolved constitutional appeals from last year pending before that court.
Head of the Constitutional Appeals Department Milan Vukcevic said that the Court is already acting and making decisions in cases in which there is well-established constitutional practice, stating that all such cases filed last year will be completed by September 10 at the latest.
“As a rule, we resolve constitutional appeals in the order in which they are received, but the pace of decision-making also depends on the complexity of each case. Some cases require a more detailed legal analysis and a comprehensive review of the factual material. At the same time, we prioritize custody cases, of which we currently have only 25, all of which were received this year”, said Vukcevic.
The press release emphasized that the Constitutional Court, in accordance with the Plan and Program for Resolving Cases, completed all constitutional appeals from 2024 by the end of June.
“Thus, a historic result was achieved: for the first time since the establishment of the competence to decide on constitutional appeals in 2007, there is not a single constitutional appeal pending before the Court filed before last year”, the press release said.
