Appellate Court: Vesna Medenica acquitted in the Zekic case

Podgorica, (MINA) – Former Supreme Court President Vesna Medenica has been acquitted of the criminal offense of abuse of office in the case regarding her actions towards Rozaje Basic Court judge Milosav Zekic, the Court of Appeal has decided.
According to the press release, the Court accepted the appeals filed by the defense attorneys, overturning the judgment of the High Court and acquitted Medenica, finding that it had not been proven that she had committed the criminal offense with which she had been charged.
“After a direct assessment of all the evidence presented, both individually and in their correlation, this court concluded that during the proceedings it was not proven beyond a reasonable doubt that the defendant exceeded the limits of her official powers or failed to perform her official duty, prescribed by law, within her powers as the Supreme Court President”, the press release reads.
It is added that the Appellate Court’s judgment is final with the date of its adoption.
