Bozovic: SNP supports introduction of tricolor as people’s flag

Podgorica, (MINA) - The Socialist People’s Party (SNP) supports the proposal to introduce the tricolor as the people’s flag, said this party’s MP Bogdan Bozovic, stating that it is a matter of respecting the history, tradition and identity of the country.

Bozovic said that such a solution is in line with the SNP’s commitments, which, as he stated, is consistent with the preservation of the historical symbols and identity of Montenegro.

“The tricolor is not a novelty, but a symbol deeply rooted in the Montenegrin historical memory, which was present in the institutional and social life of Montenegro throughout different periods”, said Bozovic.

According to him, has been present in the institutions of Montenegro for the longest time throughout history and has remained deeply rooted among the people, regardless of later political and legal changes.

“That’s why we think it’s unfair that when the Law on State Symbols was adopted, its importance was not recognized”, said Bozovic.

He said that today, when the tricolor is used among citizens, it is clear that it lives as an authentic national symbol and deserves to have its status clearly defined within the legal system of Montenegro.
