Podgorica, (MINA) – Montenegro has not given up on the extradition of Svetozar Marovic and both the extradition request and the international warrant are still in force, said Minister of Justice Bojan Bozovic.
In an interview with Pobjeda daily, Bozovic said that the Ministry of Justice had taken all possible steps under international law to secure Marovic’s extradition and ensure his availability to the judicial authorities of Montenegro.
When asked if his recent statement that he no longer expected Serbia to extradite Marovic, as well as that Montenegro would not send new requests, means that the country has given up on his extradition, Bozovic said it does not.
“The state has absolutely not given up on Marovic’s extradition, and both the request for his extradition and the international warrant, remains in force”, said Bozovic.
He explained that his earlier statement referred to a realistic assessment of the likelihood that Serbia would compliance with the request, rather than any decision by Montenegro to withdraw it.
