Bijelo Polje resident arrested for threatening journalist and prosecutor

 

Podgorica, (MINA) - L.R. (21) from Bijelo Polje, was arrested in Budva on suspicion of threatening and insulting a journalist from the Bijelo Polje Vijesti office and a prosecutor of the Bijelo Polje Basic State Prosecutor’s Office (ODT), the Police Administration announced.

The police stated that journalist E.P. reported on March 9 that a message containing threatening and offensive content had been sent via a social network to the account of the Bijelo Polje Vijesti portal, where she works, in which, apart from the employees of the media house, the prosecutor of the Bjelo Polje Basic State Prosecutor’s Office was also mentioned.

“Police officers of the Bijelo Polje Security Department immediately undertook activities within their jurisdiction to clarify the incident and identify the perpetrator, and it was determined that it was L.R. (21) from Bijelo Polje, with a permanent residence in Budva”, the press release states.

The press release emphasized that the Budva Security Department officers located and arrested L.R.

“The prosecutor of the Basic State Prosecutor’s Office in Kotor stated that L.R.’s actions contain elements of the criminal offense of endangering safety to the detriment of a journalist, as well as the criminal offense of assault on an official in the performance of official duties, to the detriment of a prosecutor from the Basic State Prosecutor’s Office in Bijelo Polje”, said the police.
