Podgorica, (MINA) – Montenegro and Croatia continuously discuss outstanding bilateral issues at various levels and in different formats, with mutual respect and commitment to resolving all issues through dialogue, announced the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA).
Responding to media allegations on this issue, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated that the two countries have identified outstanding issues of mutual interest, and that special commissions have been formed for some of them, while the work of existing bodies has been renewed after a years-long hiatus.
“Discussions are being conducted between two neighboring and allied countries, in a spirit of mutual respect and partnership. Montenegro approaches these discussions responsibly, in good faith and with a clear commitment to resolving all open issues through dialogue”, said the Ministry.
As they pointed out, Montenegro respects the agreement with the Croatia that individual issues and the course of negotiations should not be commented publicly until mutually acceptable solutions are reached.
“These are complex issues that have their own historical context, which often carry an additional social and emotional dimension. This is precisely why we believe they cannot and should not be resolved through media statements, especially when broad assessments are presented without sufficient knowledge of the facts and the context”, the press release said.
