Vuksanovic: New and transparent procedure needed for Airports of Montenegro

Podgorica, (MINA-BUSINESS) – Advisor to the President of Montenegro for Domestic Policy and Economic Development, Nebojsa Vuksanovic, said that, following the withdrawal of South Korean company Incheon International Airport Corporation from the airport concession procedure, a new and transparent process is needed for Airports of Montenegro (ACG).

Vuksanovic recalled that the Office of the President had pointed to numerous shortcomings and the compromised nature of the concession procedure from the very beginning.

“Unfortunately, today’s developments confirm that those concerns were well founded,” Vuksanović said in a statement.

He recalled that the President’s Office had also addressed the Protector of Property and Legal Interests of Montenegro, as well as members of parliament who were expected to confirm the Government’s decision, warning them of the serious risks of continuing a procedure launched in 2019 under significantly changed economic and market conditions.

Vuksanovic said it was particularly concerning that a credible international company had withdrawn from the process, while the Government had at no point demonstrated a willingness to reconsider or suspend the procedure and launch a new one based on current economic, financial and development parameters.
