Podgorica, (MINA-BUSINESS) – It was concluded at a meeting between Minister of Maritime Affairs Filip Radulovic and representatives of the Seafarers’ Union that amendments to the legal framework in the maritime sector are of crucial importance for its advancement. 

The meeting focused on the Law on Maritime Navigation Safety, which has already been adopted by the Government and is currently in parliamentary procedure. 

“I believe that the Law on Maritime Navigation Safety will be adopted by Parliament by the end of the year. With this law, we are bringing order to the maritime sector and significantly raising the level of safety at sea,” Radulovic said.

He informed the representatives of the Seafarers’ Union about the shortcomings identified by the European Maritime Safety Agency (EMSA) in its latest report, which are currently being addressed.

A significant portion of the identified shortcomings has already been remedied. I believe that we will succeed in eliminating as many of the remaining irregularities as possible by the next inspection, planned for next year,” Radulovic said.
