Podgorica, (MINA-BUSINESS) – The Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Water Management has procured five soil monitoring stations under the ECOBASE project, which have been installed at selected farms in the municipalities of Ulcinj, Mojkovac, Berane, Niksic, and Pljevlja.
The Ministry said that the procurement, carried out within the project financed through the Interreg IPA ADRION programme, aims to improve the sustainable management of agricultural resources and strengthen the sector’s resilience to climate change.
“The modern stations enable continuous monitoring of key soil parameters, including moisture, temperature and other important indicators that affect plant growth and development. The collected data will help agricultural producers make more informed decisions regarding irrigation, fertilization and overall production management,” the Ministry said in a press release.
The Ministry added that these technologies are expected to make a significant long-term contribution to optimizing production, reducing costs and preserving natural resources.
The ECOBASE project aims to strengthen land management capacities and promote innovative solutions in agriculture across the ADRION region, while its implementation in Montenegro marks an important step toward the modernization of the country’s agricultural sector.
