Podgorica, (MINA) – Montenegrin President Jakov Milatovic has called on political leaders and representatives of all political entities to demonstrate political responsibility and unite around the issues that determine Montenegro’s European future.
He called on the MPs to appoint the remaining Constitutional Court judges, adopt the necessary constitutional amendments, appoint members of the Judicial Council and adopt the remaining electoral legislation.
Milatovic told MPs that Montenegro is on the threshold of achieving its decades-long strategic goal – full membership in the European Union (EU).
“In order to successfully complete the final stage of our European journey, we need to put aside political calculations and party interests and together complete the most important task of our generation”, stated Milatovic.
He noted that, following the historic Summit in Tivat and the strong support expressed by all EU member states and leaders of EU institutions, Montenegro has a real opportunity to become the 28th EU member by 2028.
Milatovic warned that this opportunity would not wait.
“That is why it is necessary that, without further delay, we do everything we can. I call on political leaders and representatives of all political entities to unite around the issues that determine Montenegro’s European future”, said Milatovic.
