Podgorica, (MINA-BUSINESS) – Former owners whose property rights were confiscated will receive €8.75 million in compensation this year, the highest amount paid to date.
Director of the Compensation Fund Elmir Kurtagic said at a press conference that the Government had adopted a regulation determining this year’s compensation payments to former holders of confiscated property rights, on the basis of which the Fund will disburse the annual instalments.
“Annual compensation payments for this year, in line with the Fund’s planned budget, will be significantly higher than the amounts paid before 2022.," Kurtagic said.
He added that, compared with last year’s payment, which amounted to 16 percent of the outstanding debt and was the highest since the Law on the Restitution of Confiscated Property Rights and Compensation entered into force, this year’s payment rate will be further increased to 18 percent.
Kurtagic recalled that a total of 4,180 beneficiaries qualified for last year’s annual compensation payment.
