Rozaje agriculture faces shortfall

Rozaje, (MINA-BUSINESS) – According to Mersad Colovic of the European Alliance, allocating only 0.7 percent of the municipal budget for agriculture in Rozaje is proof of the incompetence of those managing this sector, and yet another indicator of ignorance and inaction.

“It is shameful that we boast about this and call honest farmers to a meeting over such meagre budget funds for a sector that is vital to the economy,” Colovic stated in a press release.

Colovic, who is also a member of the Social Democrats (SD) Municipal Committee in Rozaje, stressed that the €80,000 earmarked for agriculture is insufficient even for a single farmer, given current livestock prices, let alone for the entire municipality.

He argued that such limited funds can only benefit those who are politically loyal.

“If we consider that the Mayor Rahman Husovic allocated €90,000 to individuals, and another similar amount for other payouts, which is €270,000 in total, it is obvious that resources are being directed only to the favoured few,” Colovic said.

According to him, there is no real investment in agriculture, sports, or culture, and not a single meaningful project is underway.

“Tourism is being neglected, while the number of employees receiving salaries from the municipal budget keeps increasing,” he warned.

Colovic concluded that the small allocation for agriculture further exposes the incapacity of the local government.
