Podgorica, (MINA) – The adoption of the European Commission’s financial package for Montenegro’s EU accession is one of the most concrete steps towards full membership and confirms that it is moving closer to the goal, said President Jakov Milatovic.

He welcomed the European Commission’s decision to approve the financial package for Montenegro.

“This is a confirmation that the European future of Montenegro is no longer just a political goal, but a process that is getting its own institutional, financial and budgetary framework. The EU is preparing for Montenegro, and Montenegro must complete its European path”, said Milatovic.

He thanked the President of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, for her strong and continued support to Montenegro, stressing that this decision shows that the enlargement policy delivers results when it is based on reforms, results and trust.

“Montenegro’s place is in the EU. It is not only our strategic commitment, but the natural direction for the country that belongs to the European family of values, democracy and development”, emphasized Milatovic.
