Podgorica, (MINA) – Completing the Constitutional Court is an important step, but it must be accompanied by concrete support from the state to strengthen professional, administrative and spatial capacities of the Court, Constitutional Court President Snezana Armenko said.

According to the press release from the Constitutional Court, Armenko welcomed the newly elected judges Jelena Ruzicic and Predrag Krstonijevic, introduced them to current cases and work organization and wished them success in their twelve-year term of office.

Armenko said that the Constitutional Court, after almost five years, is once again operating in full composition.

She said that the election of Ruzicic and Krstonijevic secured a stable composition of the Constitutional Court, meaning that no new judicial appointment are expected to be opened in the near future due to reaching retirement age.

“Even though in the previous period we worked with an incomplete composition and under challenging conditions, we achieved a historic result: today we do not have a single constitutional appeal pending before this court filed before last year”, said Armenko.

She pointed out that filling all seven judicial positions is an important step.

“But it must be accompanied by concrete support from the state to strengthen the professional, administrative and spatial capacities of the Court. This is the only way we can preserve the achieved results and provide citizens with even more effective protection of their constitutional rights”, said Armenko.
