Podgorica, (MINA) - Attacks against MP Andjela Vojinovic represent a form of political and gender-based violence that is unacceptable in a democratic society, the Women’s Club of the Parliament of Montenegro announced, calling on the authorities to identify those responsible.

According to the Parliament’s press release, the Women’s Club strongly condemned the hate speech and attacks against Vojinovic aimed at to discrediting and humiliating her because of her publicly stated political position.

“Such attacks represent a form of political and gender-based violence that is unacceptable in a democratic society”, the press release said.

According to them, the fact that women in the public life are often the targets of such attacks is of particular concern, which sends a discouraging message to all women who wish to engage in politics.

“We call on the competent institutions to urgently investigate all the circumstances and identify those responsible”, says the Women’s Club.
