Podgorica, (MINA-BUSINESS) – Montenegro’s Ministry of Energy and Mining and Xcalibur Multiphysics Group S.L. have signed a Memorandum of Understanding to systematically collect high-quality data on the country’s geological structure for the first time using advanced technologies.

Energy and Mining Minister Admir Sahmanovic said the initiative would provide reliable scientific data to support evidence-based decisions on mineral resources, sustainable development, and environmental protection.

The memorandum establishes a framework for preparing Montenegro’s national airborne geophysical mapping programme, which aims to modernize geological research, improve knowledge of the country’s mineral potential, and create a comprehensive geological database aligned with international standards.

Sahmanovic said the programme would strengthen spatial planning, natural resource management, and Montenegro’s alignment with European policies on critical raw materials, while ensuring any future resource development meets high environmental standards.

Xcalibur Multiphysics Group, a global leader in airborne geophysical surveys, will cooperate with the Ministry on the programme’s technical design, research methodology, knowledge exchange, and potential financing models.
