Safeguarding Velje Brdo project from abuse
- TENANTS – ASSOCIATION
Podgorica, (MINA-BUSINESS) – The Tenants’ Association has called on all citizens who rent their homes to join the initiative to protect the Velje Brdo project from political and investor abuse.
“This project, which is partly financed with public money, must not be left to politicians and their interests. The apartments built with our money must be distributed through a clear, fair, and transparent process – without political pressure or favouritism,” the Association stated in a press release.
The Association demands that the criteria for apartment allocation are determined by the tenants themselves, that ranking lists are public and accessible to everyone, and that this project offers a genuine opportunity for tenants, rather than just another case of political bargaining.
“Officially, the registration process for tenants begins on 1 September, at locations that the Tenants’ Association will publicly announce. Our goal is to ensure that only citizens truly in need of a roof over their heads are registered, rather than those looking for ‘just another apartment,’” the press release states.
They recalled that more than 11,000 citizens have already applied for the Velje brdo project. However, there is still no transparency as to whether these applicants are truly tenants in urgent need of housing or part of manipulative schemes.
