Podgorica, (MINA-BUSINESS) – Before making a decision on awarding airports concession, it is necessary to conduct a valuation of their assets, said Boris Mugosa, an MP of the European Alliance and Chairman of the Parliamentary Committee on Economy, Finance and Budget.
“Regardless of the Government’s latest legal maneuvering related to the concessions and its desire to award airport concessions as soon as possible, following the resignation of Minister of Transport Maja Vukicevic, it is necessary to determine the value of the airports, because if it exceeds €150 million, and there is a high probability that it does, the decision on the concessions must be made by Parliament,” Mugosa said in a press release.
He believes that anything else would be highly questionable from the standpoint of legality.
Mugoša noted that, given the importance of the issue, such as the concession model for airports, he proposed an initiative, which was accepted, to hold a meeting of the parliamentary committee with representatives of the Government and Airports of Montenegro, where activities related to the issue of awarding airport concessions would be discussed.
He added that the current tender procedure has been discredited for many reasons, as it has been ongoing for more than six years and has been accompanied by numerous controversies, and should therefore be terminated, pointing out that the concession act has both economic and legal shortcomings.
