Radulovic: Crnogorska Plovidba headed towards dissolution

Radulovic: Crnogorska Plovidba headed towards dissolution

Crnogorska Plovidba has not been formally dissolved, but its continued existence is solely aimed at completing outstanding obligations before a final decision on closing the company is made, Minister of Maritime Affairs Filip Radulovic said in Parliament.

Responding to questions about the company's status, Radulovic explained that after the sale of its two ships, Crnogorska Plovidba no longer had the assets needed to carry out its core business and effectively ceased operating as a shipping company.

He said the company remains active only to complete legal, financial, and administrative procedures, collect outstanding receivables, receive the final payment from the ship sale, and determine its remaining obligations to the state.

Radulovic stated that the company had operated at a loss for eight of its eleven years and argued that any government would have made the same decision. He also noted that, despite claims that the ships had been paid off, the company still owes the state €40 million, making further financing unrealistic.

The final amount to be repaid to the state cannot yet be determined, as it depends on the completion of ongoing procedures and a final settlement of mutual obligations. Once these are concluded, the Government and relevant institutions will decide on the company's ultimate status.

Radulovic added that maintaining two separate state-owned shipping companies with only two vessels each was neither sustainable nor a sound long-term policy.
