Most workers have been granted legal status

Podgorica, (MINA-BUSINESS) – According to Prime Minister Milojko Spajic, Montenegro has 100,000 more registered workers since 2020, most of whom have been brought into the legal system, along with some newly employed individuals.

In response to a question from Democratic Montenegro MP Boris Bogdanovic on whether workers lived better before 30 August 2020, Spajic said in Parliament that wages and pensions were much lower than they are today.

“Almost 100,000 fewer workers were registered than we have now. Some of those people were illegally employed in the informal economy, receiving cash payments, without insurance and without the possibility of expecting a pension in this country,” Spajic said.

He said they had secured a future for 100,000 families by bringing them into the legal system.

“Everyone is now insured and can obtain loans to address all the issues they have been waiting on for decades,” Spajic said.

He added that it is very difficult to compare the system before and now, as Montenegro is moving towards the EU and many things that were previously difficult to imagine are now achievable for citizens.
