Podgorica, (MINA) – The position of Minister of Defense Dragan Krapovic regarding President Jakov Milatovic’s initiative to review the provisions of the Law on the Armed Forces (VCG), represent continued approach towards the VCG previously pursued by the Democratic Party of Socialists (DPS), the press release from the President’s office stated.

Krapovic stated on Wednesday that Milatovic’s initiative was politically motivated and that he was attempting to eliminate the Government’s role in managing the defense system.

The President’s office stated that Krapovic is defending an unconstitutional solution introduced by former minister Predrag Boskovic.

Such a position, according to the press release, represents a continuity with DPS’s policy towards the Army, including support for controversial and unconstitutional solutions stemming from this period.

“We recalled that the Prime Minister is a member of the Defense and Security Council and that thus the Government’s role cannot be eliminated, as Krapovic is suggesting”, the press release from Milatovic’s office stated.
