Podgorica, (MINA) – President Jakov Milatovic announced on Friday that consultations regarding the nomination of Mirjana Vucinic as a Constitutional Court judge would start later that day, adding that almost all parliamentary groups were expected to accept his invitation.
“We will begin consultations today, and continue them over the coming days. Most parliamentary clubs will respond in order to discuss the doubts they have”, Milatovic told the press following the panel discussion “Montenegro on the Diplomatic Chessboard” within the EU Academy.
Commenting on the messages from the Parliament and the call for the Supreme State Prosecutor (VDT) Milorad Markovic to resign, Milatovic said that “we live in a democracy”.
“It seems to me, based on my conversations with citizens, the VDT should pay more attention to certain cases and this is what citizens disapprove of the most”, said Milatovic.
He said that citizens see that justice in Montenegro ends with the actions of the Special State Prosecutor’s Office and the Special Police Team.
“If justice in Montenegro ends with arrests, after which everyone is released, if we do not reach final judgments, sometimes as a result of inadequately prepared indictments, then it would be better if we did not have such justice” Milatovic said.
He said that the names of those who acquired criminal assets are well known in the public.
“Has anything been done about it? We still don’t have an anti-mafia law. The question for the MPs is why it that so, same those who criticized the VDT”, said Milatovic.
