Laketic: Tax Administration focused on continuing digitalization

Podgorica, (MINA-BUSINESS) – Revenues from almost all tax categories increased over the past year, said the Acting Director of the Tax Administration (PU) Sava Laketic, adding that the institution’s focus is on continuing digitalization and strengthening analytical capacities.

“The new information system will start operating in the first working days of January. We expect system stabilization and full functionality by 12 January, that is, from the first full working week,” Laketic said in an interview with Mina-business agency.

As he explained, the new system enables citizens and businesses for the first time to electronically register a company, register and deregister employees, as well as submit all tax returns online.

“From the perspective of businesses and citizens, these are some of the most significant benefits. As far as the Tax Administration is concerned, unified analytics provide the opportunity for better control of economic flows, fairer application of tax regulations, and create the basis for further digitalization and modernization of the Tax Administration,” Laketic specified.

Speaking about further steps towards the digitalization of the Tax Administration, Laketic said that the recently adopted budget envisages the second phase of the Smart Tax project, agreed with the World Bank, with a credit line of up to €20 million.

“We have electronic fiscalization, which has been in place since 2021, and it already requires certain upgrades. Therefore, fiscalization is planned first, followed by the collection of receivables and invoice processing,” Laketic said.

He added that e-invoicing will be introduced as a complete process, which will in the future enable pre-populated tax returns.

“It will also enable us to connect business systems directly to the Tax Administration’s system,” Laketic added.
