Krapovic: Solidarity crucial for stability of Euro-Atlantic area

Podgorica, (MINA) - Solidarity, unity and commitment to fulfilling NATO agenda tasks are essential for preserving the stability of the entire Euro-Atlantic area, it was announced at the North Atlantic Council meeting, held at NATO headquarters in Brussels.

The Montenegrin Ministry of Defense announced that Minister Dragan Krapovic participated in the meeting, chaired by NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte.

Krapovic pointed out that the unpredictability of developments in the global security environment indicates the need for the full implementation of the strategic decisions adopted by NATO leaders.

Referring to the new obligations agreed upon in The Hague, Krapovic said that Montenegro remains committed to further increasing its defense allocations.

According to him, this year Montenegro will allocate at least two percent of its gross domestic product to defense, of which a significant portion will be earmarked for the needs of modernization and equipping of the Army.

“Reflecting on the security situation on NATO’s Eastern flank, he recalled the continuous engagement of our troops in battlegroups in Latvia and Bulgaria. When it comes to Ukraine, Krapovic pointed out that Montenegro has been providing assistance since the beginning of the war, and will continue to do so in the coming period, in accordance with the needs, situation assessment on the ground and our capacities”, the press release said.
