Montenegro makes significant progress in innovation, human resources, information society and social policy

 

Podgorica, (MINA) – Montenegro has made significant progress in several negotiation chapters, including innovation, human resources, information society and social policies, it was assessed at the meeting of the Subcommittee for Innovation, Human Resources, Information Society and Social Policy held in Podgorica.

 

According to the press release issued by the Ministry of European Affairs (MEA), representatives of Montenegrin institutions presented their counterparts from the European Commission (EC) with the activities in the areas covered by Chapter 2 – Freedom of Movement for Workers, Chapter 10 – Information Society and Media, Chapter 19 – Social Policy and Employment, Chapter 25 – Science and Research and Chapter 26 – Education and Culture.

 

During the meeting, participants pointed out that the provisional closure of Chapters 2 and 28 at the Intergovernmental Conference in Luxembourg is a confirmation that tangible results are recognized.

 

Subcommittee chair Anita Bilafer Mihaljevic pointed out the importance of provisional closure of Chapter 2 and congratulated all colleagues whose dedication and hard work made it possible.

 

Bilafer Mihaljevic said that Montenegro remains fully committed to implementing its road map for EU accession.

 

Deputy Head of the Unit for Montenegro in the DG NEAR Heinke Veit congratulated Montenegro on the significant progress achieved on its EU membership path.

 

She also congratulated provisional closure of negotiation chapters 2 and 28, which, as she pointed out, represents another success and increases the total number of closed negotiation to 16.

 

“Therefore, Montenegro has maintained its position as the most advanced country in the EU accession process”, said Veit.

 

She pointed out that Montenegro remains the enlargement process frontrunner, but that the country still has significant work ahead in order to achieve its goal of provisionally closing all remaining chapters by the end of the year.
