Kordic: Conflicts may affect the tourist season, Montenegro has the advantage of being a peaceful destination

Podgorica, (MINA-BUSINESS) – Conflicts in the Middle East are affecting some of Montenegro’s growing outbound tourism markets and could have consequences for the upcoming season, said Tourism Minister Simonida Kordic, adding that Montenegro also has advantages as a peaceful and attractive destination.

According to a press release from the Ministry of Tourism, Kordic met with representatives of the largest hotels operating in Montenegro to discuss preparations for the upcoming summer tourist season and the challenges facing the sector.

“Expectations for the next summer season were also discussed, particularly in the context of the current geopolitical situation in the Middle East and its potential impact on global tourism trends,” the press release reads.

Kordic noted that tourism, as one of the most sensitive sectors of the economy, is often among the first to be affected by global crises, but that the experience of the tourism industry shows that such circumstances often lead to a redirection of tourist demand toward destinations perceived as more stable and safe.

“Conflicts in the Middle East are affecting some of our very strong and growing outbound markets, and this may have consequences for the upcoming season,” Kordic said.

However, she added that Montenegro also has certain important advantages as a peaceful, stable, and attractive destination.
