Knowledge and support woven into lace: wedding dresses created through an EU project

Podgorica, (MINA-BUSINESS) – With support from the European Union (EU), a collection of six wedding dresses has been created by students of the “Spasoje Raspopovic” Secondary Vocational School together with the team from Dress on Top, using materials sourced in Montenegro.

The dresses were created gradually through fashion design workshops, where students applied their newly acquired skills throughout the collection

“As part of the project, a fashion design workshop was organized to transfer knowledge to the students who participated in creating the collection. The entire process lasted around five months,” said Milica Buskovic of Dress on Top.

According to the Ministry of European Affairs, the company also used the project to improve its working conditions by purchasing professional equipment for cleaning and pressing wedding dresses.

Buskovic said the new equipment had significantly changed the company’s operations.

The Montenegrin Bridal Brands for New Generations project was one of nine supported under the EU grant scheme “Increasing the Competitiveness of Small and Medium-Sized Enterprises through Support for Women’s and Youth Entrepreneurship”, which aims to strengthen competitiveness, develop skills, and foster closer links between business and education.

The project was worth €19,800, of which the European Union provided €17,820 in funding.
