Confirmation that Montenegro’s financial system operates in line with EU standards

Confirmation that Montenegro’s financial system operates in line with EU standards

Pljevlja, (MINA-BUINESS) – According to representatives of the Central Bank of Montenegro (CBCG), Montenegro’s accession to the SEPA system is a historic step in financial terms and in integration into the European system, as well as confirmation that Montenegro’s financial system operates in line with the highest European standards.

Jela Rakocevic of CBCG told secondary school students in Pljevlja, during an interactive workshop on the SEPA system, that in institutional terms this means that Montenegro has accepted European Union rules.

“This particularly contributes to strengthening trust and stability in the business sector, as well as to being recognized as an equal partner on the international market,” Rakocevic said.

The workshop “Europe Without Borders in Payments: Discover the Benefits of the SEPA System,” which was held at the grammar school “Tanasije Pejatovic” in Pljevlja, was organized by the Ministry of European Affairs and the Centre for Finance, in cooperation with that educational institution and the “Pljevlja” Secondary Vocational School, within the framework of the EU-funded EU4ME project.

Students learned about the role of the CBCG in the process of accession to the SEPA area, as well as the importance this step has for the country’s financial system and its integration into the European payments market.
