Podgorica, (MINA) – Montenegro and Egypt will further strengthen parliamentary cooperation by forming a friendship group, it was announced at a meeting between Montenegrin President Jakov Milatovic and Speaker of the Egyptian House of Representatives Hisham Badawy.

According to the press release from Milatovic’s office, the two officials agreed that stronger ties between the two parliaments represent an important step in the further development of the overall relations between the two countries.

The press release adds that the role of legislative institutions in creating conditions for the implementation of new agreements, strengthening legal security for investors and enhancing economic connection between Montenegro and Egypt is particularly important.

Milatovic said that there is significant potential for future cooperation between the two countries.

“We have opened a new chapter in the relations between Montenegro and Egypt. Egypt is the largest economy on the African continent and one of the most important countries in the Arab world. With this visit, we are creating the foundations for a much stronger partnership in the years to come”, Milatovic said.

The President’s office said that the meeting was also attended by Deputy Speaker of Montenegro’s Parliament Nikola Camaj, who assessed that the formation of the parliamentary friendship group and strengthening cooperation between the legislative institutions represent an important step towards closer ties between the two countries.

Milarovic’s office said that more intensive parliamentary cooperation will provide important support for the further development of relations between Montenegro and Egypt and additional impetus to the implementation of agreements, attracting investments and closer ties between the institutions, economies and citizens of the two countries.
