Podgorica, (MINA) – The EU accession process must be based on the delivery on reforms, and solving bilateral disputes in the spirit of good-neighborly relations is crucial, it was noted during a meeting between European Commissioner for Enlargement, Marta Kos, and Croatian officials.
Kos wrote on the X social network that she met in Zagreb on Tuesday with Croatian Prime Minister Andrej Plenkovic and Croatian Minister of Foreign and European Affairs Gordan Grlic Radman.
She said that Croatia is a strong supporter of a strong, united and enlarged Europe.
“We agreed that the accession process must be based on the delivery on reforms by our candidates. Solving bilateral disputes in a good neighborly spirit is crucial”, said Kos.
She added that they also discussed how the EU should prepare and reform to be ready to accept new members.
Plenkovic wrote on the X social network that he and Kos discussed the situation in Southeast Europe and the future of the EU enlargement process, which, he said, Croatia strongly supports.
According to him, the new geopolitical circumstances create a more favorable environment for accelerating the enlargement pace, especially in terms of providing a clear European perspective for Ukraine, Moldova and the countries of Southeast Europe.
He added that during the meeting he emphasized that the European path of Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH) is of particular importance to Croatia.
