Podgorica, (MINA) – The European Alliance (ES) should complete the first phase of its expansion by the end of July, said one of the ES leaders and president of the Social Democratic Party (SDP), Ivan Vujovic.

 

In an interview with Pobjeda daily, Vujovic also said that there can be no compromise on the idea of ​​Montenegro as a civil state, stressing that it is the foundation on which Montenegro’s depends.

 

At the ceremony marking the third anniversary of European Alliance, the movement’s expansion and soon election of its leader were announced.

 

“By the end of July, we should complete the first phase of expansion, while at the same time we are looking for a person who is ideologically and politically compatible with our policy”, Vujovic said.

 

He stated that ES does not want to be confined only to traditional frameworks, which, he added, distinguishes them from the rest of the ruling and opposition political scene.

 

“Our goal is to attract a part of legitimately dissatisfied voters, abstainers and civic and state-building structures. The fact that our political strength is measured in double digits confirms that we are moving in the right direction”, Vujovic said.

 

When asked if he believes that the recently signed agreement on overcoming the political crisis would be respected, he replied that “experience teaches us that one can never fully trust government representatives”.

 

“On the other hand, the fact that the government signed this document represents an important victory for the opposition, but also confirms our commitment to the European path of Montenegro”, said Vujovic.

 

Asked how he understands the “new Serbian response” promoted by Parliament Speaker Andrija Mandic, he said that “Mandic’s response is very dangerous, manipulative, destructive and dirty".

 

“He will use the policy to create and shape the executive branch, which will the key question of Montenegrin society after the 2027 elections. There are two options on the table – the policy of Andrija Mandic or the policy of the ES”, said Vujovic.

 

He said that the ES will not settle for lies, fraud, deception, fabrication of historical facts and promotion of criminal ideologies.

 

Vujovic reiterated that there can be no compromise on the idea of ​​Montenegro as a civic state, adding that it is the foundation on which the country depends.

 

“Mandic knows this, that’s why he is trying to transform Montenegro into a collection of ethnic groups, into a community divided along ethnic lines,” said Vujovic.

 

He remarked that certain activities have already been initiated by colleagues from the Democratic Party of Socialists, but that they are aware that Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic, even after the exit of Milan Knezevic from the ruling coalition, still has enough players within the executive branch, ready to continue expanding what he described as Vucic’s Serbia in Montenegro.
