Milatovic: Opening of Montenegro’s Embassy in Cairo an important step in strengthening bilateral ties

 

Podgorica, (MINA) – The opening of the Embassy of Montenegro in Cairo will represent an important step forward in strengthening political, economic and overall bilateral relations with Egypt, it was announced at the meeting between Montenegro President Jakov Milatovic and Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi.

 

Milatovic’s office announced that a new chapter in relations between the two countries was opened on Monday in Cairo, where the 20th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations is being marked, reaffirming a shared commitment to a stronger political dialogue, more intensive economic cooperation and more concrete linking of the economies and institutions of the two countries.

 

According to the President’s Office, one of the most significant outcomes of the meeting is the agreement on concretizing the necessary steps towards the opening of the Embassy of Montenegro in Cairo, which will establish Montenegro’s first permanent diplomatic representation in Egypt.

 

Milatovic and El Sisi agreed that the friendly relations between Montenegro and Egypt are entering a new phase, characterized by more regular political dialogue, stronger economic cooperation, increased investments and trade, as well as more intensive cooperation in the fields of maritime affairs, tourism, trade and culture.

 

El Sisi, as stated, assessed that the celebration of the 20th anniversary of diplomatic relations and Milatovic’s visit represent an opportunity to launch a new phase of cooperation between the two countries.

 

Milatovic assessed that the official visit to Cairo represents a historic moment and a confirmation of the shared ambition for the two countries to elevate their friendly relations to a higher level.

 

He pointed out that he was particularly pleased that they had agreed on concrete steps towards opening of the Embassy of Montenegro in Cairo.

 

“Montenegro, as a member of the NATO and a future EU member state, wants to build reliable and long-term partnerships with countries that have such international importance”, said Milatovic.

 

According to the press release, he invited El Sisi to visit Montenegro, which would be the first visit of the president of Egypt to Montenegro.

 

El Sisi said that he would be pleased to visit Montenegro, stressing Egypt’s strong commitment to further strengthen political relations and economic cooperation between the two countries.
