Podgorica, (MINA-BUSINESS) – Decarbonization, or the electrification of transport, is one of the key obligations brought by the energy transition, said Maksim Vucinic, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Montenegrin Electricity Market Operator (COTEE), adding that it protects Montenegro’s economy from oil crises.
“The energy transition is an unstoppable process, and our key task is to make this shift in Montenegro’s energy ecosystem and the future integrated market even more successful,” Vucinic stated.
He spoke at the opening of the roundtable “Decarbonization of Transport with a Focus on V2G Technology (Vehicle-to-Grid),” organized by COTEE and the ENEKO Center at the Montenegrin Academy of Sciences and Arts (CANU).
According to a press release, V2G technology enables an electric vehicle not only to charge its battery from the grid, but also to return electricity back into the power system when needed.
Vucinic said that the key to a successful energy transition no longer lies in finding a single “winning” technology, but rather in an adequate combination and synergy of renewable energy sources, smart management, efficient solutions in production, consumption, and industry, as well as the electrification of transport and households.
