Systematic approach taken to settling outstanding claims of former employees

Podgorica, (MINA-BUSINESS) – Minister of Labour, Employment, and Social Dialogue Naida Nisic said that the Government has allocated a significant amount of funds to settle claims of former employees in just two years of its mandate, adding that the Ministry is approaching the issue in a systematic manner.

Answering MPs’ questions in Parliament, she recalled the current Government’s achievements in addressing outstanding claims of former employees.

MP Milos Konatar of the United Reform Action (URA), asked Nisic whether she supports the adoption of a law that would financially compensate all former employees of state-owned companies that went bankrupt, and whether it is now time, after addressing employees in the metallurgy, mining, wood-processing, and forestry sectors, to rectify injustices for all other former employees without exception.

Nisic highlighted the importance of responsibility toward the sustainability of public finances and observing the principles of fair resource distribution, stating that this should be a fundamental principle and code of political conduct for all decision-makers across all branches of government.

“Starting from clear guidelines on the necessity of preserving the sustainability of public finances and carefully planning future steps toward realistic and feasible payments of legitimate claims, this Ministry has systematically approached the resolution of this issue,” Nisic stated.
